As a carbon conscious organisation our modern well maintained fleet already has one of the lowest carbon footprints of any national operator and the continual investment we make in our fleet means vehicles are renewed regularly and we benefit from new technology, cleaner engines and lower emissions.
In January 2012 we signed up with the UK’s leading Vehicle Tracking and Telematics company; Masternaut, giving us a wealth of tools at our disposal to ensure engine idling is monitored and kept to a minimum as well a huge reduction in paper usage through a new electronic time sheet system.
Our modern office complex and garage facilities were built to take advantages of energy saving technology reducing the carbon footprint at our base and with coach travel already being one of the most environmentally friendly forms of transport our overall carbon footprint is low.
However, we are always looking at ways to make further reductions and our most recent project is working towards the introduction of a Cycle to Work scheme, giving our employees the opportunity to take advantage of the government’s tax-free bikes for work initiative saving them as much as 50% off the price of a new bike so they can commute meaning ZERO emissions!
As one of the first coach operators in the UK who commenced the new Driver Certificate of Competency training we were able to work with local training company KITA to develop a course specific to our needs as well as class room training our drivers also took driving assessments and covered key areas such as;
- EC Drivers Hours Rules
- Health & Safety
- First Aid
- Fuel Efficient Driving Practises
- NVQ in Passenger Transport
The benefit to the environment is a highly trained workforce who are much more aware of how their driving style effects fuel efficiency, meaning less emissions from our vehicles and also a saving for the company.
